Department of Biosciences

D.A.V. (P.G.) College is first and foremost institution in Muzaffarnagar district and adjoining areas, dedicated to impart higher learning with strong tradition of research to the urban and rural students as well. It stands for an onward march of the human race towards ever higher objective. This college came into existence in 1950. Recently, this college has been awarded the CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) status by UGC, New Delhi. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has also award 'A' grade to D.A.V. College after second cycle of assessment. Recently Dept. Of Biosciences and 5 other Depts. of the College has been considered under Star College Scheme by department of biotechnology, Ministry of Science and technology New Delhi for financial support.

Department of Biosciences was established in the year 2001 with M.Sc. Biotechnology. The department of Biosciences was inaugurated by Dr. S.A.H. Abidi, I.C.A.R. New Delhi. Today we are living in the era of "Omics". In the changing scenario, research focus has been shifted to Genomics, Proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics and personalized medicines to each and everyone. To achieve this noble goal Management committee of the D.A.V. College decided to provide the unique academic infrastructure to impart high quality education to inquisitive young minds. Therefore, several degree programs (Biotechnology and Biochemistry) which are of relevance to national progress and development were started in the year 2003 and 2005. Facilities at Department of Bioscience- Academic Resources:- The department of Biosciences in running under the expert supervision of Dr. Manju Chauhan with 10 highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members. The primary mission of out expert team is to impart education and practical skills via research. The courses prepare the students to face the current challenges in the field of Biotechnology, Microbiology & Biochemistry. Our faculty members and research scholars have published their research paper in Journals of national and international repute.
